CARD NUMBER 5. – The Creation: Man and Animals.

Strive For Completeness

In our attempt to understand the entirety of things, we tend to conceptualize completeness in terms of “the world”. It is all we know; while we may have had glimpses of the illusive realm beyond the confines of this world, this is the place where we are most grounded in reality. We wish to build our own world within the one that we all collectively occupy, and we desire a harmonic balance between all that is internal and all that is external. The World encourages you to seek harmony, balance, and oneness in all aspects of life. There is no perfect formula for finding this balance, but moving forward with a positive mindset is the first step.

Allow yourself to get caught up in the flow of things, as you will find that the natural order is the closest thing to oneness that we experience on this mortal plane. Things tend to work themselves out in odd ways, and usually produce the results that we least expect. Have faith in the fact that the underlying flow of life is leading you in the right direction, and will provide you with a deep insight that will allow you to stay balanced in all things. Listen to your body and mind, and take a moment to step away from the stressors of the material world. Have confidence in the fate of things that is determined by forces far beyond our comprehension.

If there is any aspect of our lives that we tend to favor going with the flow over controlling the situation at hand, it’s romance. We have to listen closely to the cues of a potential romantic partner and adapt to the signals that they are sending us; after all, it is impossible to control how others feel. Instead, we can only accept and work with the reaction that we are given.

Try as we may to always be one step ahead so as to seize hold of our perfect romance, we oftentimes find that a relationship is easily turned on its head. Perhaps we lose feelings for someone because we’ve started to spend more time with them and now see the uglier sides of their personality. Or maybe we develop feelings for someone that we had only previously seen as a friend once we realize how deeply we treasure their presence. In situations where we try to force ourselves to feel one way or another, it always tends to end up in heartbreak and hurt feelings.

Allow yourself to move with the flow of your current romantic situation, and let yourself freely feel any emotions that may come with the changes up ahead. Your heart will guide you in the right direction, so long as you are willing to listen to its advice. If there are any obstacles holding you back from following your intuition, take a moment to consider why you are letting these thoughts potentially hold you back from a blossoming romance. Are you holding on to memories of previous relationships? Or are you afraid that following your heart will only leave you vulnerable to future heartbreak?

Remember: you can’t enter into a healthy relationship without the willingness to hand your heart to another person. There is always going to be a danger of getting hurt, and there is nothing any of us can do to completely avoid it. Instead, focus on the positive change that your romantic intuition will bring into your life. Don’t deny yourself the pleasures of romance out of fear of vulnerability. As Alfred Lord Tennyson once said, “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

TWENTY-ONE. THE WORLD

As this final message of the Major Trumps is unchanged—and indeed unchangeable—in respect of its design, it has been partly described already regarding its deeper sense. It represents also the perfection and end of the Cosmos, the secret which is within it, the rapture of the universe when it understands itself in God (Nature). It is further the state of the soul in the consciousness of Divine Vision, reflected from the self-knowing spirit. But these meanings are without prejudice to that which I have said concerning it on the material side.

It has more than one message on the macrocosmic side and is, for example, the state of the restored world when the law of manifestation shall have been carried to the highest degree of natural perfection. But it is perhaps more especially a story of the past, referring to that day when all was declared to be good, when the morning stars sang together and all the Sons of God (Nature) shouted for joy. One of the worst explanations concerning it is that the figure symbolizes the Magus when he has reached the highest degree of initiation; another account says that it represents the absolute, which is ridiculous. The figure has been said to stand for Truth, which is, however, more properly allocated to the seventeenth card. Lastly, it has been called the Crown of the Magi.

Finding a life-long career is a delicate balance of addressing worldly concerns and staying true to one’s innermost desires. Whichever we tend to prioritize, it can be easy for us to fling ourselves headfirst into the battle for fulfillment in the workplace. We may seize every opportunity by the throat in pursuit of the perfect salary, or a job that involves some of our favorite activities.

This sense of hyper-involvement and initiative, while it does allow us to capitalize on a multitude of opportunities, may also lead to a massive amount of stress. In most cases, we become upset when we don’t achieve exactly what we want; because it is so rare to find the perfect career opportunity, this then becomes a common and chronic issue amongst working individuals. Out of a fear of economic ruin or stagnation in a soul-crushing job, it can be incredibly difficult for us to allow ourselves to simply go with the flow of the situation at hand, taking the opportunities that naturally present themselves to us.

Now is the time for you to relax and let things run their course; the situation is out of your hands now, and all you can do is deal with the results that it produces. Have faith that you have made the right decisions up to this point, and allow yourself to appreciate the hard work that you have put in thus far. Keep doing your best, but don’t let yourself get stressed out when things don’t turn out how you may expect them to. New opportunities may not present themselves to you in the way that you’d expect, and now is not the time to actively seek favorable circumstances where they may not necessarily exist. Let the natural course of things guide you forward and you may find that you are delivered to places you have never dreamed of going in your career.

Following the natural order of things may lead us to have anxiety over the fact that fate is out of our hands. When The World appears in the reversed position, it may be a sign that you are focusing far too heavily on the possibility of you taking control of a situation, leading to great distress when things don’t go exactly as you planned.

At times, we have no choice but to accept the fact that there is nothing we can do to change the outcome of things. What we can control, however, is the way that we react to them. Even if you aren’t receiving your desired outcome, have faith in the fact that there is a reason things are turning out the way that they are. Instead of allowing yourself to be consumed with what could have been, take a moment to appreciate what is. What can you learn from the situation at hand? Is there anything that you have gained by going through this period in your life? Allow your worries to melt away as you let fate take over, and focus instead on adapting to new situations as they arise.

The World tarot card is neither yes nor no when it comes to answering questions. Whilst it does tend to gear towards giving an answer of yes, you should look at the cards that it is paired with to get a true sense of your answer.
