A Master Artisan

It is always better to do something right the first time, otherwise you risk having to do it all over again from scratch. You are someone that values hard work and expert craftsmanship; if it was done by your hands, others can be sure that it will be premium quality. Of the things that you are skilled at, there is one type of work in particular that you are known for. 

This may be a physical art that is far more expressive, such as painting or sculpting. Or perhaps you are known for something that is generally regarded as having a more practical application, such as public speaking or an extensive knowledge of various programming languages. This type of work is widely known as your personal specialty, and others turn to you whenever they need something that falls within the parameters of that skill.

Not only are you incredibly talented in this particular field, but you are also extremely passionate about putting out the best work possible. This has led to an endless number of hours dedicated to your craft, as well an immeasurable amount of effort put towards further improving the quality of your work. While this has led to you making a name for yourself, it may also be contributing to an unhealthy tendency to overwork yourself. 

Such an extreme state of workaholism, when combined with the stress that comes with maintaining such high standards, can lead to poor personal habits. You may forget to eat, sleep, or take time to relax and recuperate in favor of dedicating as much time as possible to your craft. While there is nothing wrong with being passionate about your work, there must be a balance between the effort you put into said work and the time that you spend on the various other aspects of your life. 

Take this as a sign to slow down and give yourself a break; after all, exhaustion can easily lead to a decrease in the overall quality of your work. In order to continue producing results that are up to your personal standards, it is imperative that you ensure that you are able to reasonably handle the amount of work that you put on yourself.

When in a relationship, it can be difficult to find a healthy balance between your romantic life and the various other facets of your everyday existence. This is something that is largely found through trial and error, and may need to be adjusted in periods of increased activity that draw your attention one way or the other. In a new relationship, it is very common for that relationship to take up the majority of your thoughts, leading to other aspects of your life being inadvertently neglected. 

If there is something very stressful going on in outside of the relationship, such as family issues or financial trouble, one’s romantic relationships may then subsequently suffer. If you are not currently in a relationship, it can be very easy to fall into an almost obsessive pattern of throwing yourself at new connections, desperately searching for romance.

Recently, you have found your attention tied heavily to one aspect of your life, allotting all of your effort to succeeding in a current project or situation. You may be focusing heavily on your romantic relationship as you try to be the best lover possible. On the other hand, you may be preoccupied with your own personal endeavors that do not involve your partner. You may have recently noticed that there is some strain in your relationship lately, but haven’t exactly been sure what is causing it; chances are, it is a directly result of this imbalance. When we are so heavily focused on something, it can be easy to overlook the negative consequences that these actions have. If you are focusing too heavily on the relationship, you may be suffocating your partner, making them uncomfortable with your constant attention. 

At the opposite end of the spectrum, if you are putting too much attention into things other than your relationship, your partner may feel as though you are failing to give them the attention that they deserve. This does not necessarily mean that you don’t care for them; instead, it simply means that you need to reevaluate how your choose to spend your time and attention. Once you find a better balance, you will find that many of these stressors will resolve themselves.

Whether or not you are in your dream career, you are extremely dedicated to always putting out your best effort. Even if it seems as though some of your work tasks are menial and largely unimportant, you never fail to meet and exceed expectations. This has led to a fantastic reputation amongst coworkers and superiors; while some may think that you are a bit of a “try-hard“, none can deny that you are one of the best employees on your work team. You look forward to possible promotions and pay-raises, and are confident in the fact that you are too valuable to ever be let go.

Because you are so talented at your job, you may often be annoyed by the fact that you don’t have more authority. Sometimes, it feels as though some tasks are beneath you; while you would never abuse your talents to place yourself above others, you wish that you would be trusted with tasks that are much more complex. You look at promotions and higher positions as an opportunity to take on more interesting responsibilities, as opposed to focusing primarily on a bigger paycheck. 

While there is nothing wrong with being ambitious, this may be a sign that you have more work to do at lower level positions before you are truly ready to move up in the ranks. Are there things that you have seen your coworkers do that you have yet to learn? Or perhaps there are members of your work team that you still have yet to properly connect with. 

Before you can move on to the next step, you must be sure that you have covered all of the foundational skills of your current position. Not only will this make you far more capable of learning even more complex responsibilities, but it will also ensure that you will be a skilled, understanding, and compassionate superior over other employees. After all, there is nothing more frustrating than management that doesn’t understand the nuances of working at lower-level positions!

While it is admirable to be known for your work, it is unhealthy to be known solely for that work. When The 8 of Pentacles appears in the reversed position, it may be a sign that you have allowed your work to completely overtake the rest of your personality. 

It may be all you think about, all you talk with others about, and one of the only things that you spend your time on. This had led to a suppression of your other qualities and interests, and may be severely limiting your ability to relax and enjoy your time spent with others. 

Take some time to think about what really makes you, you. What other hobbies have you neglected in favor of focusing on your work? Are there any relationships that may have suffered from your constant dedication to this single aspect of your personality? Now is the time to step back and clearly define yourself as more than your work; otherwise, you risk losing yourself completely in its shadow.
